CBGC General Meeting - Mar 2021

29 March 2021

Call to Order

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the Chesapeake Bay Garden Club (CBGC) had a working meeting at Festival Halle in Reedville. Twenty-one members attended, wore their facial masks, sat apart and brought their own lunch. The members enjoyed the socialization -- it's has been so encouraging to see one another again.

President Kathie Truxall called the meeting to order at 11:15 A.M. She opened the meeting with the reading of the poem, “Spring Awakes”. Kathie announced that floral design components from Patsy Sylvia were available for the taking, but to please leave a donation for Ways and Means.

A rousing rendition of Happy Birthday was sung to Kathie.

Program

Darleen Nelson and Sharon Stieber presented a program on some of the floral and botanical arts designs that will be showcased in our May 15th flower show. Sharon showed us how to create the wreath, spatial thrust, and parallel designs and Darleen gave us advice on how to make the pot-de-fleur, collage, and assemblage designs.

Committee Reports

Membership - Sandra Ehlert announced that we had 23 members in attendance today and we welcomed a new member, Joanne Gills. Our total membership is now 50.

Birds, Butterflies, and Bees - Susan Brandli asked members to sign up to monitor the blue bird trails. The trails are located at Allison’s Ace Hardware in Lottsburg and at the Tavern in Heathsville.

Ways and Means - Jacqui Penney said we now have oasis for sale and there are seven more Vision of Beauty calendars available. Three more members are needed to sign up to help at our April 17th plant sale. Karen Luzuriaga will be making publicity fliers for the sale.

Kathie Truxall reminded members of the garden cleanup at the Reedville Fishermen's Museum at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 27th. Also, the club will be gathering at Helen Bell's house to divide and pot plants for our upcoming plant sale. A final date is to be determined.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m.
